What is included in a comprehensive exam: a tooth-by-tooth check for cavities and cracks, a periodontal evaluation to measure gum health, an oral cancer screening of your tongue, cheeks, and throat, and a review of your bite, jaw joints, and any existing crowns, fillings, or implants. Digital X-rays — which use up to 90% less radiation than traditional film — are taken as needed to catch problems between teeth and below the gums.
