Emergency Dentist in Charlestown, MA

Dental emergencies do not wait for a convenient time. If you are in pain, bleeding, or have a broken or knocked-out tooth, call (617) 242-9200 right now — we make every effort to see emergency patients the same day, and you do not need to be a current patient of the practice.

What we treat as a dental emergency: severe toothaches, abscesses or facial swelling, broken or cracked teeth, knocked-out (avulsed) teeth, lost or loose crowns and fillings, broken dentures, and traumatic injuries to the mouth from sports or falls.

Knocked-out tooth? Time matters. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it with milk or saline if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, store it in a cup of milk or inside your cheek, and call us immediately. A tooth re-implanted within 30–60 minutes has the best chance of survival.

Severe toothache? Rinse with warm salt water, floss gently around the painful tooth to remove any trapped debris, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed on the label. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum. Call us so we can find the cause — most often a deep cavity, infection, or cracked tooth — and resolve the pain.

After-hours emergencies: call our main line and follow the voicemail instructions. We will return your call as quickly as possible and arrange care.
